Who is up for some DOGGIE FACTS!

1.Dalmation

Croatia was recognised as the country of origin of the Dalmatian.it was said to have been used as a guard dog and companion to the nomads of Dalmatia. But, nothing is definitely known about its origin.

2. German Shepherd

The breed was named Deutscher Schäferhund by von Stephanitz, literally translating to "German Shepherd Dog". The breed was so named due to its original purpose of assisting shepherds in herding and protecting sheep.

3. Weimaraner
Originally called the Weimer Pointer, the Weimaraner was bred in the Weimar Republic of Germany to hunt big game. These dogs still chase after moving objects, though they're more likely to be joggers, bikes and cars than bear, boar and deer.

4.Bull dog

The name "bull" was applied because of the dog's use in the sport of bull baiting. This entailed the setting of dogs (after placing wagers on each dog) onto a tethered bull. The dog that grabbed the bull by the nose and pinned it to the ground would be the victor.

5. Chihuahua

Back in 1693, there was a designated "Dog Species Namer" assigned by the King of Mexico, who, in fact, also named the Yorkshire Terrier. When asked what to name the small dog, now known as a Chihuahua, the Dog Species Namer began to say the name, but it turns out he had a rare allergy to Chihuahuas, so he sneezed, and it was recorded as being a "Chihuahua" (it does sound like a sneeze, does it not?), and hasn't been changed.
Hope you liked it!
